The Yangtze River flows through a wide range of ecosystems and is the habitat to several endemic and endangered species. However, the river is seriously polluted and in urgent need of environmental restoration.

Shanghai, an international economic hub along the Yangtze River Economic Belt, will lead and accelerate the restoration efforts with its service industries.

Shanghai boasts one of the most developed investment and financing sectors in China. With the most trustworthy financial agencies of the country, the municipality is capable of collecting enormous sums of capital and establishing multiple large-scale trade platforms, allowing all parties to carry out joint projects that could green the Yangtze River in the long run.

Shanghai will share with other riverside cities its resources concerning R&D and expanding sales networks, which will help these cities to develop emerging industries, complement industrial chains, and avoid further exploitation of the environment.

Shanghai is also willing to serve as an information and technology platform. The platform will consist not only of a group of databases for ecological monitoring but also an information website providing detailed shipping and logistics information from different reaches.

As a hub of innovation and home to many expats, Shanghai welcomes the opportunity to serve as a middle man between world-leading service providers with inland provinces, cities, and enterprises.
