Media briefing on forum activities at the 15th CISMEF in Guangzhou

On Sept 26, a media briefing on forum activities at the 15th China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair kicked off in Guangzhou.

In attendance were He Zuoxian, deputy director general of Guangdong SME Bureau and director general of the bureau of CISMEF, and Tong Xiaomin, chief engineer of the Information Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, along with several secretaries and representatives of the organizers.

He explained that forum activities will be held in Guangzhou from Oct 10 to 13 this year and will be split into three categories.

The first category is theme forums, which will include the China SME Summit, the 2018 "Maker in China" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, a supply chain finance and SME financing forum, and the SME Informatization Application Promotion Activity and Informatization Forum.

The second is industry development forums, including the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2018 and a cross-border e-commerce summit. There will also be other seminars on industrial development trends, new business negotiation and other activities.

The third is business promotion forums, including a variety of activities such as the SMEs Cross-border Business Match-making Activity and the Embracing Middle East Summit under the Special Action to Support SMEs to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative.

The aim of the forum activities will be threefold. Firstly, efforts will be made to publicize and explain the macroeconomic policies of the state and Guangdong province, with a particular focus on measures to promote the development of SMEs and the private economy, and the results of these policies. Secondly, the forums aim to showcase the work that will be done to build a new opening-up pattern in the new era, guiding SMEs to use CISMEF as a platform and participate in the Belt and Road Initiative. Thirdly, the activities will seek to enhance the awareness and capability of SMEs in innovation, and creating enabling environments for start-up businesses. 

The 15th CISMEF will be hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Administration for Market Regulation, and the People's Government of Guangdong Province, with guests of honor including the UAE's Ministry of Economy, the SMEs Council of the UAE, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. 

The event has a planned exhibition area of 150,000 square meters, offering 6,000 international standard booths. It will be held at PWTC Expo, Guangzhou.
