The MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) China 2018, an authoritative exchange platform for China's aviation maintenance industry, took place in Xiamen, Fujian province on Sept 26.

Themed on integrated development and win-win cooperation, the summit attracted more than 10 experts from MRO companies and airlines to delve into the further development of aviation maintenance industry in China.

Ni Jiliang, chief executive officer of Beijing-based Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering Corp, believes that the civil aviation industry in China now sees a rapid development and the Belt and Road Initiative has brought huge opportunities for it.

Ni suggested that the aviation maintenance companies in China need to focus on the development of core technologies to maintain competitiveness in a broader international market.

Men Jiang, general manager of Shanghai-based China Eastern Airlines, listed the problems faced by aviation maintenance companies.

As more and more large passenger aircrafts are employed by Chinese airlines, higher requirements for maintenance are needed. However, there are not enough professional maintenance personnel. Besides, the network and information security of these maintenance companies also face severe challenges.

Ding Changxing, head engineer of Xiamen Airlines, proposed that aircraft maintenance and management should move towards digitalization, informatization, and intelligence and maintenance companies in China should make innovation in maintenance technologies so as to improve their own value.
