First innovative development forum of Bay Area opens in Guangzhou

The first Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Synergy Innovation Development Forum was held at Guangzhou Dongfang Hotel on Sept 22 with top experts and scholars exploring coordinated innovation and development of the area.

The forum, supported by the National Forest Park of Guanyin Mountain, was sponsored by Economic Daily and Guangzhou Daily. Several experts and scholars were invited, such as Chen Wenling, chief economic manager of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) and Fan Hengshan, a famous economist and former deputy secretary-general of the National Development and Reform Commission. The experts gave speeches on opportunities and challenges for the future development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, exploring the synergistic innovation development of the area.

The forum also invited government departments, institutions of universities and colleges, think tanks, famous entrepreneurs and other guests of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Synergy Innovation Development Report (2018), an excavation of patent data and analysis of the advantages of innovation institutions and industry of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, will be released by the Guangzhou Daily Data and Digit Institute.

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, one of the most economically dynamic regions in China, was formed by Hong Kong, Macao and several cities in Guangdong, including Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Zhaoqing. The forum will be held in one of the cities every year from 2019.
