The 2018 Zhanjiang Mini-Marathon will kick off at the Zhanjiang Sports Center at 8 am on Nov 18. The registration deadline is Oct 19.
Sports enthusiasts aged between 16 and 60 that are in good health can sign up for the event via the official website of the Zhanjiang Sports Bureau: http://www.zjtyj.gov.cn/ or the WeChat account of Zhanjiang Baichuan Cultural Transmission: zjbcwh.
Participants will set off from the sports center, running through People Avenue, North Sports Road, Guangzhou Bay Avenue, the east section of South Sports Road, Haibin Avenue, and Leshan Avenue before looping back to the start line. The course is about 10 kilometers long.
Timing carpets are placed at the start and finish lines, and at 1.6 kilometers, 5.6 kilometers, and 7.4 kilometers from the start line. Participants need to run over every timing carpet. Participants will not qualify for a final ranking if any time point is missed. The cut-off time is 10 am.
The top three men and women will be awarded 2,000 yuan ($292 yuan), 1,000 yuan, and 800 yuan, respectively. Fourth to eighth place will all receive a prize of 500 yuan.
The mini-marathon, which is the largest and most prestigious long-distance running event in Zhanjiang, is aimed at promoting fitness for all. The event is managed by the Zhanjiang Sports Bureau under the auspice of the Zhanjiang Municipal People's Government.
