Liu Mingchuan's former residence, a 60,000-square-meter national key cultural relic protection unit, was built in 1868 when Liu returned home. The residence was then handed down from generation to generation. In 1950, Liu's descendant donated this precious house to the country.

Liu's former residence was recognized as a national cultural relic protection unit in 2005 by the State Council and as a national base for Cross-Strait exchanges in June 2012 by the Taiwan Affairs Office. In April 2013, those awards were officially bestowed and the protective restoration process was begun. Nearby, there is a large-scale cemetery built at the north foot of Daqian Mountain, which was reconstructed in 2011 and meant for Liu. After several twists and turns, his remains were formally buried there in 2011.
