Dalian University is a comprehensive university founded in October 1987, in Dalian, Northeast China’s Liaoning province.
The university covers an area of 1,246,000 square meters with a floor area of 565,000 square meters. There are 1.7 million books available at the university for 1,600 faculty members and 16,000 full-time students (including 1,000 postgraduates).
The university’s sports facilities are of international standard and were once used by the track and field team of the United States during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. These facilities include a sports stadium, tennis hall and swimming pool, which cover an area of 20,700 square meters.
Dalian University currently has 27 colleges, offering courses in education, the humanities, history, law, sciences, engineering, medicine and administration.
In the 2018 China University Rankings published by Cuaa.net, Dalian University ranks 184th, seventh in the province and fourth in Dalian. The list of universities is one of the most respected university quality assessments in China.
Dalian University also focuses on international exchanges and cooperation. So far, it has established ties with over 120 universities and research institutions in the United States, Canada, Japan and South Korea, including the University of Tsukuba, Chung-Ang University, Nagoya University of Foreign Studies and Troy State University.
In recent years, the university has launched Confucius classrooms at the University of Seychelles and the University of Comoros, which have helped enhance its international reputation.
