Network media focuses on ecological progress of Yellow River

Network media gathered in Sanmenxia on Sep 3 for a special activity aimed at increasing coverage of the ecological conservation and management of the Yellow River.

Organized by the Communication Bureau of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission Office and the Yellow River Conservancy Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources, the "Trip to the Yellow River-2018 Online View of Henan" activity drew the attention of dozens of network media from all across the country. After its first stop in Sanmenxia, the activity will be held in many other cities in Henan, including Luoyang, Jiaozuo, Zhengzhou, Xinxiang, Puyang, to conduct more in-depth interviews about the dams and water-conservation projects on the Yellow River. 

While in Sanmenxia, the press focused on the eco-environmental protection and control of the Yellow River, aiming to report the efforts Sanmenxia had made to improve the urban and rural eco-environment along the river, and promote the economic and social development of the city. 

With the concept of ecological civilization "green mountains and clear water are as good as mountains of gold and silver", Sanmenxia poured itself into the protection of the wetland resources by setting up a sustainable development strategy based on ecological construction, which has obtained remarkable effects so far.

"Surrounded by green trees and clear waters with picturesque views, I have fully experienced the charming of Sanmenxia, or 'the city of swans'; it is very spectacular," said Zhou Yang, a news editor from Chinanews.

Sanmenxia has a total area of forestry land of 10.3 million mu (686,647 hectares), and a forest coverage rate of 50.72 percent, leading all cities in Henan province. With deep implementation of forestry ecology construction, its ecological environment has developed rapidly over the past few years.
