Big data technology will be applied in the 2018 Jiangsu Horticulture Expo from Sept 28 to Oct 28, which will be held in Yizheng city, Yangzhou, Jiangsu province.

This will be done in order to control crowd numbers, traffic flow and the overall flow of visitors coming into and walking around the expo.

The capacity of the expo park is limited so visitor numbers should be controlled. An integrated management platform and an emergency response platform will be put into use. "Managing visitor flow is an important part of backstage management," said an expo organizer.

Cameras are set at all entrances, and it will automatically count the numbers of visitors and send the data to the integrated management platform.

This year's expo will also see cooperation with a mobile communication carrier to paint a picture of the latest distribution of visitors through a thermodynamic chart of cell phones.

If the visitor number exceeds the limit, the platform will inform ticket windows to stop selling tickets and arrange staff members and volunteers to disperse visitor flow.

Considering many visitors will choose to drive to the expo, seven parking lots will be opened in the east, north and south of the expo park. Electrical shuttle buses will also be available at some parking lots to ferry people to and from the park.

In addition, the organizer has installed surveillance cameras alongside the road and sensors at parking gates to collect the big data of traffic flows.

Also, surveillance cameras in the park will be able to capture if any customer has an accident on site and send feedback to request help from the nearest volunteers and staff members.
