In order to provide more convenience for the residents of the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan who are living, working and studying on the Chinese mainland, the central government announced the "Regulations for Application of Residence Permit for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Residents".
According to the policy, starting from Sept 1, residents from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who have lived on the mainland for at least six months with a permanent job or place of residence, or have been studying on the mainland for half a year, are eligible to apply for a mainland residence card. A permit holder is given access to the same public services and facilities enjoyed by Chinese mainland residents.
The Yangzhou municipal government has set up seven offices to make it convenient and efficient for qualified applicants to get the new permit within 20 working days.
The first-time apply is free of charge and the permit will be valid for five years. The residence card can be read by electronic readers as personal identification certification, which will provide convenience for holders when taking flights or making train journeys, booking hotel accommodation and dealing with financial transactions.
Here is the list of seven offices in Yangzhou where the permit can be applied for.
