Govt promotes green rural development along Yangtze River

A guideline for promoting green agricultural and rural development along the Yangtze River was approved at an executive meeting, presided over by Han Changfu, minister of agriculture and rural affairs, on Aug 29, 2018.

According to the meeting, all related central departments and organizations should take effective measures for the ecological and green development along the Yangtze River, with a focus on the conservation of aquatic biodiversity, the efficient use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, the recycling of agricultural waste, the treatment of rural living environment and the development of rural industries.

In addition, the cooperation with the municipal and provincial governments along the Yangtze River should be strengthened through establishing a mechanism for the river’s coordinated development, which is especially important for solving some major cross-regional issues.
