The China Agricultural Museum, also called "the National Agricultural Exhibition Center", covers a total area of 43 hectares, with a 21,000 sq m exhibition area.
The museum is intended to promote agricultural knowledge, demonstrate modern agricultural achievements and display the history of traditional Chinese agriculture.
The museum features various scaled rooms for conferences, exhibitions, seminars and activities. It is now a national patriotism education base, a national science education base for young people and an international science and peace education base.
History
Construction of the exhibition center was authorized by the State Council in 1958 and the center opened to the public in September 1959. The museum was based on the center and was launched in September 1986. It was listed as a first class national museum in 2012.
Collection
To date, there are nearly 50,000 agricultural historic relics, specimens, old books and traditional agricultural tools on display in the museum.
The historic relics include stone artifacts and ceramic artifacts and bronze ware. More than 2,000 paintings intended to promote the agricultural life of the Chinese people are also on show here.
Visitors can find more than 5,000 traditional agricultural tools from over 30 provinces and autonomous regions at the exhibition hall.
