Dalian Customs has recently enacted a new measure allowing importers to complete their own import customs declaration paperwork after receiving each shipment.

The customs department, based in Dalian, Liaoning province, has greatly cut customs clearance times with its new measure, increasing efficiency for local businesses.

A shipment of auto parts imported from Turkey was the first beneficiary of this measure. Shipped by Dalian Hangfeng International Transportation Co, it quickly cleared Dalian Customs upon its arrival at Dayaowan Port on Aug 23.

According to the shipping firm, this measure not only saves time, which is important for goods like fresh food, but also cuts firms’ costs as they don’t need to pay storage fees to the ports.

To take advantage of the new policy, firms must submit the import cargo manifest to the customs department in advance.
