E-commerce has developed rapidly in Nanyang, sustaining a double-digit growth over the past six months, according to a press conference on business operations in the first half of 2018 held by the Nanyang commerce bureau on July 31.

E-commerce had a total trade value of 41.35 billion yuan ($6.08 billion), while cross-border e-commerce had a trade value of 2.72 billion yuan, an increase of 31.1 percent and 48.2 percent, respectively.

To date, Nanyang has built 21 e-commerce parks, 315 township service stations, over 2,000 community stores, and 3,679 village service centers. With more than half a million employees selling over 5,000 online products, the e-commerce industry has led to the rapid development of many other industries, such as logistics, express delivery, catering, services, packaging, and printing.

Nanyang has introduced many leading e-commerce platforms in recent years, including Alibaba, 1688, DHgate, Osell, and Ouyeel, to promote the transformation and upgrading of entity enterprises through the B2B (Business-to-Business) model.

The city has cultivated many local e-commerce platforms, such as zgxiangcai.com, with an annual turnover of more than 100 million yuan. Some platforms even have an annual turnover of more than 1 billion yuan, such as ex12580.com and exbaotuan.com.

E-commerce is also remarkably effective in helping transform and upgrade entity enterprises in Nanyang, leading to the emergence of a number of typical enterprises, including Xiangnian Food, Dongsen Medicine, Shuangfeng Printing, Grass Jelly Pharmaceutical, and Tianman Clothing.
