China Football College of Beijing Sports University set up a branch in Hohhot, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on July 27.

The branch in Hohhot will aim at cultivating more high-end young players and building a personnel pool to lay the groundwork for the revival of soccer in Inner Mongolia.

It plans to employ professional foreign coaches to train young soccer players for the clubs and universities across the country.

“The regional government will offer firm support for the training of all-round soccer players. It will continue to take it as its duty to boost the development of soccer in the country and help turn China into a soccer powerhouse,” said Wu Gang, deputy director of the regional sports bureau, speaking at the launch ceremony.

Chosen as a national pilot zone in September 2014, Inner Mongolia has poured much effort into pushing forward the national soccer reform and training youth for the sport.

During the past four years, the government has released a series of draft guidelines designed to help the implementation of soccer reform.

According to statistics, Inner Mongolia has 3,173 soccer coaches, 3,086 referees and 10,473 registered teenager soccer players as at the end of 2017.  Over 2,639 soccer pitches and two soccer training bases have been established to promote the sport.
