Nanyang invests 3.35b yuan in transport infrastructure in H1

Nanyang has invested 3.35 billion yuan ($500 million) in transportation infrastructure in the first half of the year, including expressways, rural roads, shipping lanes, bus terminals, and poverty alleviation projects.

A total of 2 billion yuan has been invested in expressways in Nanyang over the past six months, accounting for 54.2 percent of the annual plan. More than 50 percent of the annual plan for the Zhoukou-Nanyang Expressway and the Luanchuan-Xixia Expressway have been completed. The Fangcheng–Tanghe section of the Fangcheng-Zaoyang Expressway, Xixia-Madeng section of the Xixia-Shiyan Expressway, and the Nanyang-Qushou Expressway are still in the preparation stages.

As of the end of June, 620 million yuan has been put toward arterial roads. Costing 360 million yuan, the fast track project near the high-speed railway station has begun construction. The East Ring Road has also achieved a phased result in demolition.

The government also invested 8 million yuan in the construction of four bus terminals. The city has been promoting energy-saving and environmentally-friendly buses over the past two years, with 385 Xingkailong electric buses rolled out in the first half of this year. Mobile payment has been allowed in Nanyang buses and a wifi project has also been declared.

The city also took on traffic poverty alleviation projects. It has hardened roads in 4,719 villages and provided bus and mail services as well. Moreover, 430 kilometers of rural roads have been rebuilt.

Inland waterways are also included in the transportation development plan. The Tanghe-Sheqi shipping lane project has completed the preliminary design stage and is currently under evaluation.
