New sports center to open in Xixia county

The Xixia Comprehensive Stadium, which cost 110 million yuan ($16.1 million), opened in Xixia county, Nanyang recently.

Covering a total area of 15,000 square meters,  the facility can accommodate 4,000 people. It forms part of the Xixia Cultural and Sports Center and is the largest  among Nanyang's county-level sport centers.

The comprehensive stadium, a great place to exercise and hold large-scale competitions, will become a landmark of Xixia county.

In recent years, the Xixia government has focused on urban construction projects to improve the quality of public service facilities, and enhance the county's overall urban style. The Xixia Cultural and Sports Center, covering an area of 165 mu (11 hectares) and costing 370 million yuan, is one such project.

In addition to the stadium, the main building of the cultural center, costing 90 million yuan, has also been completed and is undergoing interior decoration. The six-story building has a total floor area of 16,000 square meters and contains a museum, a youth activity center, a science museum and a library.

Next, Xixia county will invest 80 million yuan in basketball courts, tennis courts, wetland parks, parking lots, public toilets and other supporting facilities.
