The opening ceremony of Inner Mongolia International Choral Week was held in Hohhot, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, July 13.

The festival, which will last until July 17, was hosted by the regional government, the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM) and organized by the Inner Mongolia Bureau of National Art Troupes.

Following the footsteps of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Qingdao summit from June 9 to 10, the festival aims to promote the “Shanghai Spirit” among countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) via such cultural exchanges.

During the opening ceremony, 396 singers from 10 international choirs provided a musical feast for Inner Mongolian residents. These international choirs were from the Belt and Road countries, including Thailand, Argentina, Canada, Italy, Gabon, and Hungary.

The festival includes a series of activities, such as international master lectures and World Youth Choir tour performances around Hohhot, Baotou and Ordos, strengthening friendship and cooperation between Inner Mongolia autonomous region and the BRI countries.
