Liaoning government plans safer chemical companies

A new plan to force chemical companies to follow stricter safety standards in populated areas was recently released by the People’s Government of Liaoning Province.

The companies concerned will have until 2025 to reach the provincial government’s new safety standards.

Plans for tackling the problem include shutting down some of the more hazardous firms currently in operation, and moving others to less populated areas. In Shenyang, plans already exist to relocate 30 such companies.

The plan also emphasizes the importance of transforming areas where chemical companies have previously been located.
