Yizhou industry benefits poverty-stricken families

The rapid development of industry in Yizhou district, Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region  has become the backbone of the district's efforts to reduce poverty and increase quality of life for its residents.

A total of 174 industrial bases have helped each and every poverty-stricken village in the district and have eased the burden on 12,700 families living under the poverty line, accounting for 94.8 of the total number.

Notable industries in Yizhou district include silkworms, sugarcane, walnuts, fruits, swine, Sichuan pepper and edible mushrooms.

As of June, the planting area for mulberry has reached a new high, increasing by 15,200 mu (1,013.33 hectares) for a total area of 366,900 mu, while the area for newly planted sugar cane increased by 30,700 mu for a new total area of 308,900 mu. This increase has benefited 2,701 poverty-stricken households in 54 villages.

Yizhou district has provided and managed various types of agriculture-related funds, credit funds and social funds for its industries and has built 696 new business entities which help 4,447 poverty-stricken households in 64 villages.

Technical training has been provided by 92 agricultural experts who have formed 12 professional teams.

Yizhou district has helped poverty-stricken villages to organize various agricultural product exhibitions and promotional activities using information and data center platforms.

Yizhou district has also established 118 rural e-commerce service stations, including 23 stations in poverty-stricken villages, to promote the sale of agricultural products. The total amount of rural e-commerce transactions reached over 27 million yuan in the first half of the year.
