NE China and SW China get high-speed rail connection

High-speed train services between Shenyang, capital city of Northeast China’s Liaoning province and Chengdu in Southwest China’s Sichuan province officially opened on July 1.

Operating as G1284/1 and G1282/3 on a 2,556-kilometer high-speed rail line, one of the longest in China, the trains are the first batch of high-speed trains linking the Northeast China region to Southwest China.

The trains depart from Shenyang North Railway Station and pass through Liaoning, Tainjin, Hebei, Henan and Shaanxi, before finally arriving at Chengdu East Railway Station. 

The whole journey takes 14 hours and 33 minutes, down from the previous time of 26 hours and 13 minutes.

In addition, high-speed trains running between Changchun in Northeast China’s Jilin province and Changsha, capital city of Central China’s Hunan province, and between Shenyang and Changsha, started operations on July 1, respectively operating as G1292/89 and G1290/1, as well as G1216/7 and G1218/5.
