An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) training base was established at the Henan Polytechnic Institute on June 22, making the college the first in Henan province to train drone pilots with a Civil Unmanned Aircraft System Pilot Certificate.

In China, an operator needs a pilot certificate issued by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of China (AOPA-China) if his drones are heavier than seven kilograms, fly over 120 meters high, or fly a distance of more than 500 meters.

The training base was built to cultivate UAV operators under a tripartite agreement signed between the college, Beijing TT Aviation Technology and the Civil-Military Integration Software Branch of the China Software Industry Association.

Beijing TT Aviation Technology is a specialized UAV industry chain provider with over 200 UAV patents. It is also listed among the first set of UAV training centers authorized by AOPA-China and has trained over 10,000 talents for the industry.

In addition to talent cultivation, the three parties will also rent and sell UAVs. Cooperation will be achieved in the application of UAVs in agriculture, education, public security, military, popular science, national defense, firefighting, smart city construction and surveying.
