The 29th Canon Japanese Speech Contest closed with great success in Dalian, Liaoning province, June 15.

Toshihiro Nikai, secretary-general of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party, sent his best wishes to the contest through a video, expressing his hopes that the participants would contribute to the promotion of economic and cultural exchanges between China and Japan.

Founded in 1990, the contest has cultivated a group of talents for the city’s opening-up and cooperation with Japan. This year’s event consisted of five groups: professional college students, amateur college students, senior high school students, junior high school students and primary school students.
