The government of Dalian in Liaoning province signed a memorandum of cooperation with Italy’s Ministry of Economic Development at the 2018 China-Italy SME Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference June 19.

According to the memorandum, the government bodies will develop bilateral trade through information sharing, communication facilitation, and collaborations in the machinery, clean energy, medicine, high-end manufacturing and ship building sectors.

The conference was organized by China’s Ministry of Commerce, Italy’s Ministry of Economic Development, the government of Dalian, Pirelli Group and the Bank of China. About 70 Italian and 300 Chinese companies from a variety of fields – tourism, information technology, biomedicine, environmental protection and petrochemical engineering – attended and participated in the event.

Dalian Mayor Tan Chengxu spoke of the city’s natural resources, and economic and social development at the conference, noting Dalian’s strong efforts to promote innovation and opening-up. The city has also devised a series of preferential policies to attract foreign investment, he said.

Tan called Italy an important partner of Dalian and expressed his hope that parties, while expanding trade in traditional commodities, could also strengthen cooperation in such high-tech industries as robotics, 3D printing, new energy vehicles, environmental protection technologies and biomedicine.
