Canadian AI firm settles in Xiamen

Nebula AI Inc from Canada recently established a subsidiary, Nebula AI (Xiamen) Information Technology Co in Xiamen, Fujian province, according to the Canadian firm's founder Cao Taotao.

Located in Montreal, the epicenter of artificial intelligence (AI) in Canada, Nebula AI Inc is a supplier of cloud computing based on AI and blockchain.

The founder said that what they did is to establish a platform where users with computing devices share their devices to lower companies' R&D costs.

Blockchain, the platform's key technology, is an open, distributed ledger that can record transactions among different parties in a verifiable and permanent way, which can improve the efficiency of the sharing platform.

Xiamen's favorable industry environment and complete facilities for the AI industry are the main reasons for the company to locate themselves in the city, Cao said.

Depending on the abundant AI resources in Montreal, the Xiamen subsidiary will concentrate on technological R&D and offer training courses of AI and blockchain technology so as to stimulate innovation among local talents.

The AI industry is predicted to be one of the global pillar industries in the near future and in recent years, Xiamen has worked on establishing a competitive AI industry cluster. This city now is home to many influential AI companies, such as Meitu Inc, with the largest portrait database in the world, and Keeko's robot for little kids.
