A conference on the promotion of tourism resources along the soon-to-be opened Shenzhen-Zhanjiang high-speed rail (HSR) was held in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province on June 11.

More than 350 people, including government officials, investors, industry pundits, travel agency representatives and journalists attended the session to weigh in on how to explore the tourism potentials of cities along the 470-kilometer route in western and southern Guangdong.

Addressing the conference, Mei Qijie, deputy head of the Guangdong Tourism Administration said he hopes Zhanjiang as a clean, beautiful coastal city can offer more special tourism products and well-designed routes, and improve its infrastructure to beckon more tourists.

Zhanjiang Deputy Mayor Ou Xianwei gave a detailed introduction on the city's rich tourism resources and invited people from across the globe to come and admire its azure sky and unique natural sceneries.

Guest speakers at the meeting also shared views on how to promote the "all-for-one tourism", meaning driving the economy on all cylinders through the boom of tourism.

The Shenzhen-Zhanjiang HSR is expected to go into operation on June 28. It will run through seven cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Jiangmen, Yangshan, Maoming and Zhanjiang, with a designated speed of 200 kilometers per hour.

Tourism departments of aforementioned cities have signed a cooperation deal pledging to share resources, boost consumption to achieve common prosperity. The Zhangjiang tourism bureau also reached an agreement with Ctrip, China's leading online travel agency, to promote its tourism products online and offline.
