Liaoning police escort gaokao students

The national college entrance exam, or the gaokao – a make-or-break opportunity for Chinese students – started on June 7, with a surge in the number of test takers this year due to the baby boom at the start of the millennium.

About 220,000 students in Northeast China’s Liaoning province registered to take the exam at 238 exam sites, according to the Liaoning Ministry of Education.

Traffic police in Liaoning are well-prepared to keep order around those sites to create a quiet exam environment.

Live streaming of traffic conditions on the roads to exam sites and neighboring areas will be conducted, providing convenience for students and parents to choose the most convenient and fastest routes.

In addition, special rest areas have been set up for parents accompanying students taking the gaokao outside exam sites.
