Shanxi provides agricultural expertise to Ethiopia

Updated: Jun.01, 2018 Print

Shanxi will continue to send agricultural instructors to Ethiopia, according to Shanxi Agricultural International Cooperation and Communication Workstation.

But before being sent abroad, teachers will have to pass a rigorous selection process.

This year, the Center of International Cooperation Service in the Ministry of Agriculture will select nine teachers from the fields of water and soil conservation, aquaculture, crops, vegetable planting, poultry farming and veterinary medicine. The individuals will be chosen from throughout China and will travel to Ethiopia to provide expert agricultural advice.

Launched in 2001, the Chinese technical assistance project for agricultural vocational education in Ethiopia has sent 445 experts to the country and trained more than 50,000 agricultural professionals. The project has helped establish an agricultural vocational education system.

Experienced teachers, fluent in English with a strong agricultural background and sense of responsibility are the preferred candidates for being sent abroad.
