Nanyang began promoting an electromobile anti-theft system in its Urban-Rural Integration Demonstration Zone on May 23.

In order to carry out real-time monitoring, a coded controller will be mounted out of view on the electric vehicle, and be linked to the vehicle's license plate.

If the vehicle is stolen or the battery removed, the system terminal will immediately send messages to the owner's cellphones and the monitoring system. The terminal allows police to pinpoint the stolen vehicle at a close range.

The system is currently only available for residents of the Urban-Rural Integration Demonstration Zone, but will also be promoted citywide. The device can be installed at police stations for 200 yuan ($31). It requires the identity card of the owner, a purchase invoice, and a vehicle certification.
