Guiyang High-tech Industrial Development Area (GHIDA) was established in 1992 as a State-level development zone approved by the State Council. With a total planned area of 31.02 square kilometers, GHIDA is one of the "1+8" innovation platforms in Guizhou province.
As the only national high-tech area in Guizhou Province, GHIDA is divided into the Jinyang Science and Technology Industrial Park and the Xintian Science and Technology Industrial Park, respectively located in Guanshanhu district of Guiyang and Xintian Park.
GHIDA is also home to State-level China (Guiyang) Chip Component Industrial Park, Guizhou Torch Software Park, a knowledge-based economy industrialization base, pharmaceutical industrial park, entrepreneurial park for returned overseas Chinese, as well as some technology business incubators and industrial bases.
Also located in GHIDA are a customs office and bonded warehouses.
GHIDA has complete supportive industries and the most favorable policies in Guizhou for the development of high-tech industries and entrepreneurship.
The State Intellectual Property Office named the development area a national intellectual property demonstration park on Dec 26, 2017, whose demonstration period lasts from January 2018 to December 2020.
It is also designated as a demonstration area for 18 national projects, including big data innovation and development of industrial clusters, technology service system construction and transformation and upgrade of the Yangtze River Economic Zone. The ranking of GHIDA among national development areas jumped from 62nd to 42nd. It was invited to present its achievements on big data, innovation and entrepreneurship at national conferences and exhibitions.
With over 15,350 registered enterprises, the development area focuses on big data, health, and advanced manufacturing and modern services. The operation income of high-tech industries in GHIDA reached 300 billion yuan in 2016, while the industrial output value was 230 billion yuan.
