Efficient charging for new energy vehicles is becoming available in Zhanjiang with 89 public charging piles installed at 27 stations across the city. Fifty-seven of these piles are direct-current (DC) fast chargers and 32 are alternating-current (AC) chargers.

DC fast chargers take just 30 to 60 minutes to fully charge a typical electric car, while AC chargers may require five to six hours. Standard electric vehicles can normally drive more than 200 kilometers on a full charge.

Residents can pay for charging services via the Yue Yi Chong app developed by the Guangdong Power Grid Corporation. The fee is 1.47 yuan ($23 cents) for every kilowatt-hour of electricity.

An additional 400 charging poles will be built in 50 charging stations near parks, squares, large-scale shopping malls and residential areas before the end of 2018 in order to pave the way for further development of new energy automobiles.
