The library will be located at the Shenzhen Marina Club and construction began on May 11. Launched by the Yantian District Library, the seaside library is expected to offer distinct reading experiences to visitors by providing them with a combination of beautiful ocean views and coastal breezes. Moreover, readers can also gain a better understanding of marine culture by visiting the library.

While paying a visit to the Shenzhen Marina Club, visitors can also attend an ongoing ancient map exhibition which features 39 old maps themed around the Belt and Road Initiative. The maps include nautical charts, old checkpoint maps, and port maps which depict prosperous Chinese port cities during the Tang (618-907), Song (960-1279), Yuan (1271-1368) and Ming (1368-1644) dynasties.
