Ningbo aims high with smart city construction

Qiu Dongyao, mayor of Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province, urged all parties to work together on the construction of a smart city at a meeting on May 8.

After reviewing the achievements over the past year, Qiu pointed out that a higher standard is required for the construction of a smart city in the future.

He said that the government should focus on three aspects in the coming year - digital transformation, big data and application of intelligent systems.

Qiu also stressed that to build a high-level smart city, government departments need to facilitate communication, and deepen exchanges and cooperation with other cities, so that exchanges of ideas and resources can take place. Ningbo is one of many cities across China with a smart city project, as the drive for technological progression continues across the country.
