Shenzhen aims to be first-tier food safety city

Efforts to guarantee food safety will be intensified in the city of Shenzhen, with the city's municipal government passing two work plans on May 1 focusing on building the metropolis into a "first-tier food safety city".

Shenzhen has always attached great importance to food safety - during the ninth plenary session of its sixth CPC Shenzhen municipal committee held in January, the city vowed to establish a special standardized system to enhance food safety supervision. In its 2018 government work report, the city also determined to implement a food safety strategy and launch a range of livelihood projects concerning food safety.

According to the work plans, Shenzhen will launch 60 projects focusing on 13 major areas. The projects will help boost both the city's hardware facilities and supporting facilities in food safety, solve long-lasting problems in the catering industry and improve the city's governance ability regarding food safety.
