The opening ceremony of the second national painting and calligraphy exhibition hosted by China's dairy player Mengniu Dairy Co and Rong Bao Zhai, a venerated Beijing calligrapher, was held in the capital on April 28 in celebration of the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up.

The exhibition ran until May 2 and displayed 80 works created by several generations of Chinese artists, including Qi Baishi and Zhang Daqian, each reflecting their cultural confidence in China's new era.

As a witness to and participant in China's reform and opening-up, Mengniu Dairy has hosted the exhibition for two consecutive years in an effort to promote Chinese culture to the world.

Executive president Shi Dongwei and vice-president He Jinghua of Mengniu Dairy attended the ceremony with Fan Cungang, general manager of Rongbaozhai, as well as 20 outstanding contemporary painters and calligraphers.

“National development cannot be separated from cultural innovation and prosperity,” He Jinghua told attendees.

“This exhibition is expected to not only inherit and promote Chinese traditional arts, but also enlighten the future development of China’s reform and opening-up.”
