An expo showcasing the development and achievements of the branding economy in the Yangtze River Delta region kicked off in Shanghai on April 28.
The first of its kind targeted at cities in the Yangtze River Delta region, the three-day expo presented city features in an all-round way and exhibited various famous local brands.
Yangzhou, long a cultural and economic hub of the region, took the opportunity to show its development and charm and sent a delegation of local brands, products and companies to the expo.
According to a local official, Yangzhou refreshed its image in four major aspects: tourism, intangible cultural heritages, industrial and high-tech achievements, and agricultural and sideline products.
The distinct tourism resources were the trump cards of Yangzhou, and the cultural artifacts, such as jade-ware and lacquer-ware, embodied the city's time-honored craftsmanship.
The industrial and high-tech products demonstrated Yangzhou's consistent focus on industrial innovation; while the agricultural products, such as the Gaoyou salted duck eggs, reflected Yangzhou's commitment to its natural environment and its dedication to boosting its agricultural economy.
Live performances were also arranged during the expo, demonstrating various local traditional cultural elements such as woodblock printing, paper-cutting, instrumental music, and the cooking techniques of Huaiyang cuisine.
