The Qingdao Municipal Center for Disease Control & Prevention (Qingdao Institute of Preventive Medicine) is a fully-funded preventive medical research institution under the direct jurisdiction of the Qingdao Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission. 

Under the leadership of the Qingdao Municipal Health and Family Planning Department, the center is responsible for the functions of disease prevention and control, inspection and evaluation, health education and promotion, application research and guidance, technical management and services, and foreign exchange and cooperation. 

It also provides operational guidance, assessment and technical demonstration of disease prevention and control to district institutions. Its purpose and mission is to prevent and control health risk factors, disease, injury and disability, and improve the health level and quality of life of each citizen. 

There are 25 departments, including 5 administrative departments and 20 business departments, covering all disease prevention controls required by the state, and a monitoring department of health hazard factors such as food, environment, occupation, radiation, and school health is also in place.
