Hubin district aggressively develops vegetable industry

In recent years, Hubin district in Sanmenxia city has made resolute efforts to develop of the vegetable industry. In 2017, the district had 16,288 mu (1,085.87 hectares) worth of vegetable crops which yielded 21.12 million kilograms of vegetables, a 10-year high.

The district government formulated a series of policies in 2017 to encourage the development of the vegetable industry. The government invested 30 million yuan ($ 4.77 million) into the construction of several vegetable bases. The supply of vegetables in the market has greatly increased thanks to the addition of 636 new greenhouses which lead to 750 mu of additional vegetables.

In order to bring convenience to local residents, the government built five vegetable markets covering a total area of 28,000 square meters which meet the demands of about 78,000 people. Additionally, it has opened a number of community vegetable stores and introduced several vegetable-selling apps which offer home delivery service. 

The district has introduced high-quality seeds and advanced farming techniques while also making efforts to develop a variety of distinct vegetables. It offers training and guidance to local farmers and strengthens the development of the wholesale market to drive production.

There are 37 leading agricultural enterprises and 15 family farms in the district as well as 25 agricultural product brands that are recognized as pollution-free, environmentally-friendly, and organic. In the 2nd Shanxi-Shaanxi-Henan "Internet+characteristic agricultural product" Commodity Fair, the district signed contracts worth a total of 480 million yuan.
