Shenzhen partners with top university for a 3A hospital

The southern Chinese city of Shenzhen will receive another 3A hospital, China's highest medical ranking, following a contract-signing ceremony held on April 16 between the city's Guangming New Area and University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS).

The launch ceremony for the UCAS Shenzhen Hospital was attended by Xu Tao, vice president of UCAS; Wu Yihuan, vice mayor of Shenzhen; Wang Daping, director of Shenzhen's public hospital administration, and Wang Hongbin, secretary of the Guangming New Area Party Working Committee.

The collaboration between the two parties aims to build a top-grade comprehensive hospital and boost the development of the medical and health services in Guangming New Area.

According to Xu Tao, the hospital will have two centralized compounds and nearly 40 community health centers, providing residents with a wealth of clinical resources. He also mentioned that the hospital will start to increase focus in areas such as medical big data, promotion of scientific research transformation, development of stem cell & regenerative medicine, cell therapy and tumor precision treatment technologies and the integration of research, education and clinical treatment.

Over the past several years, Shenzhen has been striving to introduce more first-tier hospitals and advance its medical care sector. According to the city's 13th Five Year Plan (2016-2020), twelve 3A hospitals will be constructed across the city.
