Inner Mongolia University of Finance and Economics, located in Hohhot, capital of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, was established as a school in 1960. After more than 50 years of development, it has become one of the universities with distinctive regional and national characteristics in Inner Mongolia. The university concentrates on undergraduate education. At the same time, it offers some postgraduate education. It focuses on economics and management, and it also develops the disciplines of science, law, engineering and literature.
There are more than 21,400 college students. The school boasts four primary disciplines of theoretical economics, applied economics, business administration and statistics; 23 master's degree empowerment points for two-degree disciplines and three master's authorization points for MBA (master of business administration, MPACC (master of accountancy) and MF (master of finance); 54 undergraduate majors with 27 in Mongolian and Chinese bilingual classes. There are also five autonomous region-level key disciplines, two autonomous regional key cultivate disciplines, 19 autonomous regional brand majors, two autonomous regional key developing majors and 49 autonomous regional quality courses. The school has 18 colleges, one direct teaching department and five teaching auxiliary institutions. It also has one national experimental teaching demonstration center, three national specialties and one pilot project on comprehensive reform of the Ministry of Education.
The university is an important training base for professional talents in finance and economics in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region. It is also the research and consultation base for economic management, the reeducation base for senior professional and technical personnel and for officials in economic management, and the training base for professional talents in finance and economics in both Mongolian and Chinese languages.
The school attaches great importance to scientific research and social services. There are two national research bases, one autonomous regional cooperative innovation center, four autonomous regional research bases and one autonomous region university innovation platform. It has six autonomous regional academic innovation teams and 20 schoo-level research institutions.
In the past five years, it has undertaken 78 national-level projects, 330 provincial and ministerial level projects, and various projects at all levels have been growing steadily year by year. More than 5300 papers were published at all levels, including over 3,200 papers in core periodicals. Besides, 441 publications and 441 books have been published. The school also won 89 outstanding achievements in the philosophical and social sciences in the autonomous region.
