Shenzhen to invest 5.5 billion yuan in water improvement projects

The southern Chinese city of Shenzhen will invest a total of 5.5 billion yuan ($876 million) in 19 water improvement projects in 2018, local media outlet sznews.com reported on April 12.

The projects will involve the construction of four pipeline networks which will cost over 200 million yuan, three sewage pumping stations costing nearly 270 million yuan, and ten sewage treatment plants costing 5.03 billion yuan.  

In 2017, the city dealt with over 1 billion cubic meters of sewage and 375,000 tons of sewage sludge, a year-on-year increase of 2.93 percent and 4.18 percent, respectively.

On April 11, Shenzhen Water Group, the city's main water supply and treatment company, hosted a special oath-taking ceremony in Luohu district, vowing to strengthen its efforts to advance the aforementioned water improvement projects.
