The opening ceremony for the exhibition of the "Panorama of the Yangtze River" scroll was held in the National Museum of China on April 10.

The exhibition, revolving around the large art project concerning the Yangtze River, the Mother River of the Chinese nation, was organized by the Traditional Chinese Painting Association and supported by the Wuxi-based Heilan Group.

The "Panorama of the Yangtze River" scroll measures 200 meters long and 1.5 meters wide. Under the association's leadership, over 50 renowned traditional Chinese painters and theorists contributed to the creation over a period of one year.

The scroll depicts the natural and cultural landscapes along the Yangtze River in the new century, illustrating the snow-capped mountains at the river's source, oases on the highlands, the Three Gorges, the Jianghan Plain, traditional Chinese gardens in Suzhou, and the estuary to the East China Sea. The work brilliantly illustrates the magnificent landscapes along the river. Standing in front of it gives one the feeling of traveling through time and witnessing the vast changes the Yangtze River has experienced throughout history.

Chinese artists have memorialized the landscape of their homeland through a unique form of traditional Chinese art – a sprawling landscape scroll. The scroll depicts the Yangtze River in an artistic way, beyond time and space, and is an ode to the power of aestheticism and the brilliant historical achievements of the time.

Heilan Art Museum, located in Jiangyin, East China's Jiangsu province, is the largest private art museum in China.

After being displayed in the National Museum of China for ten days (until April 13), the "Panorama of the Yangtze River" scroll will be sent to the Heilan Art Museum in Jiangyin.

Costing a total of 800 millon yuan ($127 million), Heilan Art Museum, which plans to display the works of top contemporary artists, will be opened to the public in June as the largest private art museum in China.

"Heilan Group has always respected and admired traditional Chinese culture, and we hope to be its firmest supporter and advocate", said Zhou Jianping, chairman of Heilan Group.
