The Qingdao Maritime Court in East China's Shandong province released rules on improving maritime judicial functions at a press conference on April 10.

The rules include guidelines and concrete measures to improve the court’s judicial services to assist in the marine economy's transformation and upgrading.

The Qingdao Maritime Court will work to improve maritime judicial quality and efficiency and build a modern maritime trial system with Chinese characteristics, according to the rules.

The rules emphasize the protection of marine innovations such as new technology and models as well as the marine ecological environment.

Legal measures will be taken to restrict production capacity expansion that does not conform to high-quality development and prohibit companies that have lost business value from entering the market.

The measures aim to create a good legal and business environment that is conducive to the development of just, transparent and dynamic markets in Qingdao and the province.

The Qingdao Maritime Court so far this year has accepted a total of 1,843 maritime and commercial cases, including administrative and execution proceedings, a year-on-year increase of 44.7 percent.

It has also heard and concluded 908 cases, a year-on-year increase of 2.3 percent. Acceptance of trial execution cases has sharply increased and a steady improvement of quality and efficiency of case trials is evident.
