New energy vehicles to enjoy 1h free parking per day in Shenzhen

Owners of new energy vehicles in Shenzhen will soon receive one hour of free parking per day at designated roadside parking spaces, according to a draft recently released by the city's transport commission.

Car owners would need to register their license plate number and the last four digits of their car's frame number on the Shenzhen Road Traffic Center's Easy to Park app.

According to the draft, automobiles to benefit include all-electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and fuel cell cars. Vehicles must fall under the specific categories listed in the Shenzhen Motor Vehicles Temporary Parking Regulations, which include minicar, compact car, mid-sized car, mini-truck and light truck.

The Shenzhen Road Traffic Center will be open to suggestions from the public until April 23.
