Founded in 1968, Zhanjiang First Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine is a national 3A-grade Chinese medicine hospital integrating medical ambulance services, scientific research teaching, preventive healthcare, rehabilitation and nursing. It is a non-affiliated hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The hospital has a clinic, an inpatient department, a branch named Aizhou, a nursing home and a special medical health center. It has 23 clinical departments and 35 specialist clinics with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) characteristics. Currently, the hospital has 868 employees and 823 open beds.

The hospital has nine key provincial TCM specialties, including orthopedics, spinal diseases, acupuncture, diabetes, spleen and stomach diseases, cardiovascular disease, encephalopathy, lung diseases and rehabilitation.

To build the best TCM hospital in western Guangdong province, the hospital plans to move to a new site with 1,200 to 1,500 beds in the first phase and 1,000 staff members. The new hospital will contribute greatly to the development of TCM in Zhanjiang city.
