The construction of Jiaodong International Airport has been approved by state authorities and is under construction.
In 2017, the city will carry forward the planning and construction of comprehensive junction stations including the new airport, Hongdao Station and Qingdao West Station.
Qingdao Liuting International Airport has reached 4E standard. By the end of 2016, it opened 146 regular airlines to 70 domestic cities and 16 international (regional) cities with a daily flight intensity of over 460. In 2016, it handled over 20 million people, and a cargo throughput of 230,700 tons.
