Fangcheng, Nanzhao, Neixiang, Sheqi, Tongbai, Xichuan and Zhenping, seven impoverished counties in Nanyang were featured on Henan province's poverty alleviation tourist map. This is part of a plan to fight poverty through the means of tourism development.

The map, a joint effort of the China National Tourism Administration and the Henan Tourism Bureau, will be loaded onto the mobile application, amap.com, along with relevant information about local scenic spots.

This will not only help visitors learn more about tourist attractions in remote areas, but also boost regional economy by tapping into the tourism market, said Zhang Qingcen, deputy director of the Nanyang Tourism and Foreign Affairs Bureau.

Currently, the system is being designed and ironed out, with completion expected at the end of the year. Once the map goes online, tourists will be able to find whatever they want to know about local food, accommodation, transportation, public toilets as well as other travelers' comments, all by just tapping on their phone.
