The operating income of Nanyang's express delivery enterprises increased by 31.88 percent to 550 million yuan ($87.3 million) in 2017, with the number of delivered packages growing by 38.6 percent to 54.3 million. This was announced by the Nanyang City Logistics Industry Association on March 26.

The express delivery industry is now seen as a key catalyst for the growth of local economy, with all relevant indicators sustaining an annualized growth rate of more than 30 percent for consecutive years. Back in 2016, the industry's operating income witnessed a phenomenal increase of 51.95 percent to hit 417 million yuan.

Such achievements, however, cannot be set apart from the booming e-commerce sector. As of yet, five counties in Nanyang, including Tanghe, Zhenping, Neixiang, Xichuan and Tongbai, have been designated as National E-commerce Demonstration Counties. Some 3,300 express delivery service stations were integrated to e-commerce development layout to realize the synergy of the two industries.
