Yangzhou Paper-cut

12_副本.jpg

Yangzhou paper-cuts, a form of Chinese folk art, was listed among the world's intangible cultural heritages in 2010. The city's paper-cuts products are delicate with thin and flowing lines. During the Tang Dynasty (618-907), Yangzhou people had a custom of making paper-cuts to welcome the beginning of spring. They would cut paper into various patterns such as floral, spring butterflies and spring handkerchiefs. In the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, Yangzhou paper-cuts were also used as decorations for embroidery and ceremonies. [Photo/lyj.yangzhou.gov.cn]
