Opera and dance theater to boost Shenzhen’s culture and art scene

Shenzhen's culture and art scene will be injected with new life following the establishment of a new opera and dance theater on March 28.

The Shenzhen Opera and Dance Theatre will focus on creating and hosting operas and dances, providing public cultural services and hosting overseas cultural exchange activities.

The founding ceremony was attended by Li Xiaogan, head of Shenzhen's publicity department, and Wu Yihuan, vice mayor of Shenzhen.

Li delivered a speech at the ceremony, saying that the launch of the theater is significant within the city's culture and art circles and will play a key role in spreading local culture and arts. He also laid out four requirements for the theatre, urging it to create high-quality people-oriented works, build a good team and strengthen self-management.

At the ceremony, letters of appointment were also granted to the leading group of the theatre, including Fei Guangsheng, head of the theater; Zuo Qing, art director of the theater and Zheng Wenxia, general manager of the theater.
